At least, I think 2005 was the year of the rooster- cock according to the chinese calender,(keep the comments to yourself). And yep, you've guessed it we now enter the era of of the DOG. I don't know what traits our favorite canines hope to reveal to us in these fresh days of rebirth, but the cock served me well for the past 365ish days.
To make myself feel important, and an attempt to make my opinions matter, I have made a list of 13 things that I found to be signifigant during the past segment of my life (take it or leave it):
13. The Portland Art Museum - The North Wing: For Oregon, the galleries in this building have art that needs to be seen by all; containing decent works of 20th century masters as well as great pieces by contemporary artists extending into the 21st - awesome. If you are in the area, set aside an hour or two and dig that shit.
12. Living at EEN and Jeff's house - nuff said.
11. Eggos - recent obbsession, my junk food deprived childhood surfacing.
10. Lightning Bolt - "Hypermagic Mountain", these TWO guys need to be cannonized. Maybe the coolest duo next to Batman and Robin or . . .
9. HELLA- "Chirpin Hard/Church Gone Wild" & "Concentration Face/Homeboy" - HELLA is band that works hard and plays hard and makes me want to hard play. They managed to release a double album, an EP and a movie, in addition to multiple tours all of which I managed to miss.
8. 'Sin City' - For all the obvious reasons, that have been explained by so many others already. I only wish I could find a version that was dubbed in Italian, somehow makes the characters so much cooler.
7. 'Rubber Johnny' by Chris Cunningham - I will never need to suplement an acid trip for smoking crystal meth laced with heroin while high on coke and speed, wearing night-vision goggles and dancing with the elephant man in wheelchairs dancing with a small animal thanks to this film.
6. ISIS/Jesu (live) - Bologna, Italy - Beyond words.
5. Red Sparowes - "at the soundless dawn" amazing album with a live performance to match.
4. The 51st Bienale of Venice - The most massive collection of contemporary art in an event to be witnessed by humans in one of the most bizarre/beautiful/pigeon infested cities in the world.
3. SUNN 0)))- "Black One" - Phenomenal album, concert, work of art. Destroying and reconstucting elements of rock music at its most basic impression.
