I finally have the keys in my hand, so it's pretty safe to say it's a done deal. After months and months of searching, faxing, calling, commuting, inspecting, appraising and insuring, I am finally a homeowner.

I wish that I had pictures to show, but it's been a whirlwind boxes, Ms. Kim and I both feverishly packing up all of our shit. I took the day off work tomorrow and plan to get a big moving truck.

I'm just so happy that I have a place I can safely display all my collector plates that I bought from TELEVISION. I'm tearing up, just thinking about it (plate stand not included).

More news as it comes. Pictures too. I love you all.

EDIT: Also, I won't have internet for a week. Horseshit. At least when I do get it, it's FUCKING FIOS, baby.

That's so homeowner.

SPRING BREAK DAYTONA BEACH 1977.

It's an old trick I use to make the workday go by more quickly-- I pile the load on. I offer to help people, I run errands during lunch, I keep the momentum up at all times. Before you know it, it'll be 5:10 and the office is empty. Well, the same theory applied to outside of work, as well. My days are a blur. Really, they are.

Work has been silly busy. I'm on a four person team doing some elite-quickstrike project work so that everything will magically align just before the holiday season. The schedule is overly aggressive and the functionality isn't exactly trivial, which is about right on par with how we usually roll. It's been forcing me to up my game. Constantly challenging. I work with feverish intensity and have since been rewarded handsomely. Living the dream type thing.

Speaking of work, I have this coworker that keeps loaning me stuff. A month or two ago, I had a three-day weekend with no plans, so I purchased a PS2 and the game Shadow of the Colossus, as I've been meaning to do ever since I lived at lazerbeams. It's takes place in the same universe as the game ICO, which I played the shit out of back in the day. Anyway, one day, I mention the PS2 to this coworker. A few days later, he brings me a HUGE tupperware box of games. The best part? This wasn't the first time he has done this. He one lent me a big paper bag full of GAMECUBE games. The other best part? There are a lot of really rad games. What a good guy.

ADVERTISING GIVES YOU WINGS.

A fortnight ago, Red Bull held their annual uber-marketing event, Flugtag, at our very own Portland waterfront. Ms. Kim was out of town, and I didn't have anything to do, so I tried to check it out. I should have known that it was going to be a shitstorm -- traffic was backed up all the way to the Zoo. After 45 minutes and 6 miles later, I finally find a parking spot. One hitch -- it's like 2 miles away from the event. I hoof it down only to find a fucking zoo of people. It was way too packed for me. I couldn't see shit. I stuck around for roughly 15 minutes and decided to bail. Fuck that. I've got a big goddamn box of video games.

As I'm pissed, and walking back to my car, I decide to take a quick detour into a small boutique that usually has some pretty fresh shit. I won't mention the name, just because the guys there are always big dicks. Awesome wares, shitty, shitty, shitty customer service.

Anyway, ever since I started amassing shoes, I have been on the lookout for my personal holy grail of shoes -- the 1987 Air Safari. Terribly rare in the original form, you'd be hard pressed (and have to drop some serious cash) to get an pair. Even reissues fetch a hefty price on e-bay. A while back there were some reptile green reissues that dropped, but despite my connections, I still couldn't pick a pair up. Long story short, after an awfully disappointing day of advertising-intake, I walk into this store and walk directly to the clearance table, where I see a pair of these Safaris. I pick them up, holding my breath, to check the size -- sure enough, 9.5. I quickly throw my card at the cashier and get the fuck out. A suitable ending, eh? I want to be buried in these shoes.

Beyond that, my free time hasn't really been so free -- I've always kept my personal time fairly well-booked in terms of hobbies and interests and sword sharpening and activities and video games, but it seems that I've been overextended lately. The biggest thing, well, I don't want to jinx or spill the beans, but within the next week, rad things are happening. I am holding my breath until I know that everything is 100%. As soon as that happens, I'll let you know. INSERT ANIMATED SMILEY FACE EMOTICON HERE.

That's all I've got for the time being. More later.

Passing time.

Quick post-

Have solved my "idle hands" problems:

- Photography, my new hobby. Who would have thought getting pictures developed would be such an exciting experience?

- MTC, Moderator duties. Besides the occasional fuck-up that Eric has to fix, Im enjoying my work on the rebirth of this site.

- Music, music. Besides Garageband the Band remixes, which are currently happening, I recorded my first song for my Noise Project "LOS ANGELES CITY BUS". And there is a foxy chick that wants to join in on the action. Then there are talks of a rock n roll band with my buddy Dave. YES! Murder City, Here we come!

- Web Comic, starting to come together slowly but surely. Title is "Los Angeles is Broken."

- Postcards. All kinds. All kinds of collaborators.

- Work. There is still my day job.

Feel free to check out my flickr account. Im sure you'll know what user name to search for.

PS.
Zach Hill - Astrological Straights - Ipecac Recordings. Do it.

Its been a year and 3 months since I last had sexual intercourse with another human being.

So here was my saturday:

9:00 - Talked to my special lady I met on MTC for about an hour until she had to go to sleep.

11:00 - Tore my room apart looking for my iPod chord to no avail.

11:30 - Walked to my nearest branch of WaMu to deposit some checks. My branch is unfuckingbelievably nightmarish to go into. Its always a long wait but today was exceptional. In the one hour (!) wait to be helped by a teller,I made friends with a very pleasant and respectable man named Dave. He gave me his info for if I wanted to hang out with some decent people. Finally, some decent people. Finally. I might not have to dwell in my room unhealthily for too much longer.

12:40 - I walk up Vermont Ave. to go to a book store Ive been meaning to check out for awhile. I forget what its called but it seems to focus on art, music and film related books. My goal was to find an Anthology/Collection of THE MAXX comic book, and/or CRACK UP AT THE RACE RIOTS by Harmony Korine. Not surprisingly I found neither, as the Harmony Korine book is long out of print and sells for over 100 dollars on ebay, and Im not even sure THE MAXX anthology exists. I did however stumble upon this coffee table book consisting of Photographs of Cuban buildings and mostly the insides of them. I fell in love with this book and wanted to buy it badly. Except it was 75 dollars and with all my upcoming medical bills, I decided I would have to pass, which broke my heart. There was not only some of the most amazing photographs Ive ever seen in there, but also some of the most amazing buildings, rooms, design, etc. If you know me, Im a sucker for old buildings/structures/whatever. I must have been looking at the book pretty intensely because I looked up and these two cute girls standing across from me were smiling in my direction. I dont know if it was actually at me but I slunk out of there before I bought the book.

1:00 - Walked around Vermont/Hillhurst. It felt good to get out and walk around in the sun even if Im still having difficulties breathing. I almost go to see THE DARK KNIGHT in the old VISTA theater but instead spontaneously call my friend Dave to hang out with him. Before I head to his house, I take some pictures with my silly little QuadCam Camera I bought at the Whacko store on Hollywood Blvd.

2:00 - I grab this weird 35mm camera to take to Dave's. Its this old dusty USSR-made Zenit camera with a zoom lens on it. I found it in a box of stuff I recently moved from my moms house and Im guessing I stole it from my High School photography class. I also found a shoebox filled with different lenses, most broken or in bad shape. I dont know if they fit the Zenit but im interested to see what i can do with them. Along with the Zenit, I took the QuadCam, and some extra 35mm film. Then I head to Dave's.

2:30 - I bring Dave two of my Xanax cuz he ran out of his prescription and cant get it filled till Monday. Thats right, everyone and their mother gets panic attacks once they move to Los Angeles apparently. After watching a pretty awesome Space Ghost Coast to Coast with guests Thom Yorke and Bjork (as space ghosts wife), we head up to his roof to take some pictures. There is a bee's nest up there and occasionally I get chased around by this on bee that wants to fuck my life up. Im not allergic but still, I dont need anymore medical problems. I play with the Zenit and take some pictures of the gross Silverlake skyline. It seems to be a cool camera but we'll see once the pictures come out. I knew those 4 semesters of Photography in high school would pay off some day.

4:30 - Low blood sugar brewing, I head back home to eat, do laundry and clean my room a bit. I make myself a delicious spinach wrap. I watch THE BAXTER which is pretty rad. You might have to be a fan of Micheal Showalter and those guys though.

6:30 - Absolutely exhausted from my day and my undetermined medical problem which makes me exhausted all of the fucking time, I put on Alejandro Jodorowsky's El Topo. I pass out. I wake up to find that the movieI put on is as crazy as Ive heard about. I watch the last half not having a clue what is going on, but not being able to look away. Some downright amazing shit within a pretty rough film. I think I might sample some of it for an upcoming collaboration between Garageband the Band and whatever Eli's rap band is called.

Now after I finish this, Im gonna work on a mix Ive had in the works for awhile now, work on a photoshop project Ive been working on for 7 (!) months now, and then talk to my lady cuz shes getting off work.

I didnt even have to use my AK
I gotta say it was a good day

I was reading a movie blog here at work and they mentioned that John Carpenter is making a prison movie called SCARED STRAIGHT with Nic Cage. Then they posted the following clip from that video to keep kids from doing bad things called SCARED STRAIGHT. This led me to the idea of casting a SCARED STRAIGHT Van Sant-style shot for shot re-make of the following video.

Without further ado, here is who I would have play each part in the video (In order of appearance):

Blond Scared Kid - Ryan Phillipe (cuz hes a bitch just like that kid)
Scraggly Con with Red/White Jacket - Joe Pesci with a wig and mustache and tall boots
Angry Afro Con (Black Shorts w/ White Stripes over pants) - Mark Wahlberg or Brian Atene
Smiley Kid - Jim Breuer
Chubby Bad Girl - Jennifer Tilly
Foxy Red Haired Girl - Jessica Alba with Red Hair
Scared Brunette Chick - Ally Sheedy
First Con to tell his sentence: Big Boi from Outkast
"Fly Fisherman" Con (2nd one to tell): Brian Posehn
Third Con to tell: KRS One
4th con to tell and The third con to yell at the kids (aka The Guy that says "You'z" a lot): The blog I was reading nailed it by saying Mark Borchardt from American Movie should play him.
5th Con to tell and last to yell: Ol Dirty Bastard
Scared Black Kid: Don Cheadle
Kid that Reads the Heading: Harmony Korine or Ralph Machio
The kid that doesnt want to punch and then becomes everyones bitch: That kid from Almost Famous

Any other ideas for casting? Lets hear em!

Scared Straight
